Cloud Chess Room

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information is processed during gameplay, how it is used to run multiplayer sessions, and what controls you have.

Last updated March 3, 2026

1. Data We Process

  • Nickname and room ID used to create or join matches.
  • Game events needed to keep the board state synchronized in real time.
  • Optional chat, microphone, and camera streams when enabled.
  • Local preferences such as language and move-sound settings.

2. Why We Process It

  • Run private rooms and maintain active match state.
  • Support reconnect and reliability safeguards.
  • Protect service quality and limit abuse.

3. Storage and Retention

Active room state may be stored temporarily to keep sessions consistent and allow reconnect. Browser-side preferences are stored locally and can be cleared by you at any time.

4. Your Controls

  • Play without enabling microphone or camera permissions.
  • Clear local browser storage to remove saved preferences.
  • Leave a room or stop using the service at any time.

5. Engine Backend and Diagnostics

  • In expert configurations, the app may initialize a local `stockfish.wasm` engine in a browser worker.
  • If that backend fails to initialize or search in time, the worker can fall back to the built-in TypeScript engine.
  • Diagnostic telemetry may record backend name, timeout/fallback reason, and request metadata (for example difficulty); it does not include chat, audio, or video content.
